JCI - National Convention 2010, Oct 1st - 3rd

The Junior Chamber Ireland - Leading Together - National Convention 2010 will take place in The Grand Hotel from Friday October 1st till 3rd.

Feargal Quinn will be the guest of honour at the JCI Ireland Friendly Business Awards Final to be held on the Friday night of National Convention. After that guests will enjoy a buffet dinner followed by 70s party night with 'JCIs Got Talent' competition.

Saturday will see a training session being specially developed for conference delegates by a top IMI (Irish Management Institute) executive coach. The training will involve group activities and an outdoor challenge. Further details to follow....

Saturday evening will be the highlight of the conference with a very special drinks reception, Gala dinner and awards ceremony with late night party. A lively tripartite debate on Sunday morning between Ireland, England and Scotland will ensure delegates are kept well awake the morning after the night before!

Sunday will also see the launch of JCI Ireland Active Citizenship Week and Active Alfie has promised a unique event

Barnardos Attempts New World Record

Barnardos invites ‘pushy’ parents to help break the current World Record for the most buggies pushed over a one mile distance

When: Sunday, 19th September
Time: 11am – 2pm

Would you like your little one to be a World Record breaker while raising funds for Barnardos? Well here’s your chance! The Big Buggy Push, taking place Sunday 19th September, is a new fun sponsored ‘stroll with your stroller’ that promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family while raising funds for Barnardos. The World Record attempt for the most buggies pushed over a one mile distance is sure to push parents to the max and we need more than 300 buggies to do it! All you need to do is register online at www.barnardos.ie and come along on the day to join us for the World Record attempt.

Participants can also raise additional funds for Barnardos by getting their buggies sponsored. Barnardos has an online sponsorship form on www.barnardos.ie so those taking part can simply email it to friends and family – no need to collect coins! The Big Buggy Push will need to be seen to be believed and to add to the fun participants are encouraged to enter the ‘Pimp my Buggy’ competition by decorating their buggies – the most ‘rockin’ stroller on the day will win a prize! Malahide Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic - Sept 2nd

The Malahide Chamber of Commerce are hosting their Golf Classic in Malahide Golf Club on Thursday September 2nd. Tee-time: 12 noon to 14.30.

Cost of entering a team is €400 which includes golf for four persons, dinner and the chance to win some excellent prizes. The competition is Stableford with two scores to count at each hole. Dinner will be served in the Clubhouse at 20.30. All monies raised go towards important community projects, re-investment in the town etc.

If entering a team is not convenient, perhaps you might consider sponsoring a hole (€100) or contribute some prize/voucher for our grand raffle on the night. The Farmers Market will be held every Saturday on the Village Green from 10am until 4pm.

There are stalls for Organic fruit and veg, fresh fish, pork butcher, beef butcher, cheese monger, French bakery, Irish bakery, olives and pestos, sweet things bakery, Fro Berry and in addition to these traders, there are a number of art and crafts represented too.

Heritage Week: The History of Malahide, Aug 28th

The History of Malahide - a talk for all ages: On Saturday August 28th at 2pm in Malahide Library, Mariana Saad will give a 30 to 40 minute talk about the historic monuments of Malahide. This is event is part of the Heritage Councils - Heritage Week and is suitable for the whole family, www.heritageweek.ie

Following this talk, also on Saturday the 28th of August, there will be an Historical Walking Tour of Malahide. This is your chance to find out more about the historical landmarks around Malahide. Local expert Roger Greene from the Malahide Historical Society will head this walk leaving the library at 4pm on the day.

Heritage Week Kids Art Workshops, Aug 21st to 29th

Are running a special event for Heritage Week from August 21st to the 29th.

Their resident artist Maura O'Rourke /www.orourkeart.ie is running Art Workshops in the Museum in Malahide Castle Courtyard for children aged 5 to 12 years, which are free of charge with your admission ticket.

Poker Night, Aug 14th

The Ross Nugent Foundation is hosting a Poker Night in St Sylvester's GAA Club on Saturday, August 14th at 7.30pm. Tickets are €35 including poker play, and a complimentary pass to The Wright Venue.

All proceeds will go towards new equipment for the Oncology Wing at Beaumont Hospital.

This summer Golf Junior Summer Camps are being held in Malahide Castle during July & August. The camps are taught by a PGA professional. Each 1 week course runs from Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 1.15pm, Age Group: 5-12 years and the cost per child is €110.00.

'Malahide Has It', July 22nd to 25th

Some of our sites visitor's might remember dancing on New Street to 'I'm Walking on Sunshine', fun fairs in the boatyard and go-kart races through the village, with that in mind, the Malahide Chamber of Commerce informed us that they are organising a number of events for Malahide on 22nd to the 25th of July.

There will be lots going on around the village, including a Fun Fair in the Castle, various events on the Green and music on New Street. For the full listing of events see below.

The Laura Brennan Cup, July 3rd

A 1 day World Cup style 7-a-side football tournament, starting at 10am, Saturday July 3rd in Malahide Castle. A BBQ for all the participants will be hosted in Gibneys Bar on Main Street.

Enjoy Malahide Was Launched, June 30th

We are proud to launch the 'Beta Site' of www.enjoymalahide.com, the site is still in the final testing stage so we would appreciate your feedback. If you go on the website and find something that doesn't work, or something that you think is missing we'd appreciate if you would let us know. On the website you will find all you need to know about Malahide, the shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, amenities & services in the area.

This is the latest step in our project and we will be adding new features to the site as we progress, so again if you have any ideas we'd love you to let us know. For all your feedback and ideas please email info@enjoymalahide.com
