The Photonics Ireland 2011 conference will take place in Dublin from the 7th -9th September in the Grand Hotel Malahide, Dublin. The conference will mainly follow the format of the previous highly-successful Photonics Ireland conferences held in Salthill, Co. Galway in 2007 and in Kinsale, Co. Cork in 2009.
The conference will cover most aspects of photonics research in Irish Universities and Institutes of Technology, including: Photonic Materials, Photonic Devices, Nanophotonics and Plasmonics, Biophotonics, Imaging, Laser Material Interactions, Quantum Optics, and Optical Communication Systems. The conference will also include a Photonics Industry event.

The Malahide Clubs night fundraiser in aid of the Olympic campaign for Irelands 470 sailors for London 2012, including double Olympian Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan, will be held this Friday September 30th in Malahide RFC on the Estuary Road @ 8pm - Tickets €50 each or €500 for a Table of 10. The 30th Olympiad will commence on the 27th of July 2012 in London, Ger Owens will hopefully compete in his third consecutive Olympics having sailed with Ross Killian in Athens and Philip Lawton in Beijing.
