Located in the heart of the bustling village of Malahide, next to the marina, the new EUROSPAR store was designed to blend into its environment. The exterior of the store presents a clean, fresh image with the use of the lightbox fascia and stylish black windbreakers. The store looks surprisingly small from the outside, however, upon entering the store, it opens out to reveal all the key supermarket departments most prominent of which is the Enjoy Now department (with Kitsu Noodles, Signature Selection Sandwiches, Treehouse Juice & Smoothie bar, Pazza Pizza & Pasta and Tim Horton’s coffee).
Continuing through the store, the customer is next greeted by the fresh departments; fruit & vegetables, bakery, traditional deli and fresh meat through the Russell & Ryan craft butcher brand. There is also a full range of grocery, household and health & beauty along with a full off-license that stocks a good range of foreign beers.
Operator Fergus Giblin, has extensive retail experience - he started working in his father’s shop in Finglas in 1994, then moved on to work in EUROSPAR Rush in 1998. He continued to progress through to ranks and in 2001 was appointed general manager for EUROSPAR Rush, where he remained for the next 5 years.
With the opening of EUROSPAR Malahide on December 1st, 2007, Fergus now manages the 5 checkout, 7500 sq ft store, which employs 35 staff (20 of which are full time). His team is a good mix of Irish, Polish and Lativan staff – from Owen Corr who is the Assistant Manager to Krzyzstof Roszmann, Fresh Food Manager and Maija Krigena, Office Manager.
The team is kept busy all day long, due to the location of the store next to the marina. Starbucks next door also brings a lot of passing trade. Lunch time and evenings are especially busy, with a strong participation in the Enjoy Now department - Kitsu Noodles and Signature Sandwiches are doing particularly well.
Eurospar now has a Ticketmaster booth in store. Customers can now benefit from quick and secure real-time transactions to a wide range of events on offer.
