Sports & Community
Malahide has a fine sporting and community tradition. Some of Ireland's most successful clubs and organisations can be found in Malahide. Successful clubs including St Sylvesters GAA, Malahide United Athletic Football Club, Malahide Rugby Football Club, Malahide Lawn Tennis Club and Malahide Yacht Club represent Malahide in the sports of GAA, Soccer, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket and Yachting, with regular national, international and Olympic representation. Over the years with great work and effort within the community, these clubs have built facilities and reputations that stand shoulder to shoulder with the best. The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) use Gannon Park in Malahide as the training base for The Irish International Football Team.
Intertwined with this, there is a proud history of community based achievements, from the winning of the Tidy Towns Competition, to the hosting of major musical and sporting events and the Bi-annual Malahide Has It Festival. Malahide residents regularly come out to fund raise and pull up their sleeves for the improvement of the community. A fine example of this community effort is our web site Enjoy Malahide, run voluntarily by locals.
